Safety Tips to Remember

Easter or Resurrection Sunday is remembered by Christians to honor the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It is a celebration of hope and faith in new life.

Just like all the other festivals, Easter is celebrated throughout the world in different ways. In the Philippines, Filipino families normally gather together with sumptuous meals prepared like seafoods, whole roasted pig, meat and native delicacies. Children also do egg hunting in the neighborhood.

Because of the pandemic, we spent the last two Easters at home. But this year, since we have eased restrictions, it’s finally time to go out with family and friends for a holiday vacation. And since many holidays are coming up and children are also excited to go out, keeping everyone safe should still be a priority.

Here are some safety tips to consider:

1. If your children are attending an Easter egg hunt with friends in the neighborhood or in a hotel make sure that it is being held outdoors and have them wear face masks. Tell them to keep their distance from other people.

2. If you are planning to have a get together dinner with family or friends, do it al fresco with spaced seating. Also wear your face masks when appropriate. If you’re feeling unwell, just stay home.

3. If you are going out of town, don’t allow someone to ride in your car who isn’t part of your household. Explain it politely and nicely to the person why it’s not safe for everyone.

4. If you go swimming, make sure to read the safety regulations of the resort. Be careful getting in and out of the pool, distance yourself from other people and never talk to someone you don’t know. Also, don’t let your kids swim unattended even if there are lifeguards around.

You can have fun but it’s essential to keep up preventive measures to protect yourself and those around you. Remember that COVID-19 is still out there and accidents may happen to anyone. Which is why having a safety plan is always recommended.

Safety planning keeps you ahead of things. It protects you and your loved ones to help reduce the risk of getting hurt. It also prepares you in advance for any future financial difficulty.
